Does anyone one know what kind of paints can be used for bowling balls?

You can paint the bowling ball or you can bowl with the bowling ball. You can’t do both.

Bake is right… You cannot paint and bowl with a bowling ball… And since its called a bowling ball and not a painting ball, try bowling!!!
Probably whatevr design your looking for, you can get for only $50 through the viz-a-balls… They sell a wide variety of designs — anything from sports teams (I personally have a yankee ball), to disney characters, to a clear one where you see the core.. Their all plastic balls, so they’re low-end made for beginners or as a spare ball, such as what I use it for.
If your more advanced and want one for a strike ball that hooks then youre outta luck, but it sounds like your more in it for the look of your bowling ball not the look of your scores, so just get one of the viz-a-balls…

I would imagine you’re probably turning an old bowling ball into a garden gazing ball, or something of that nature, am I right? I didn’t think you wanted to paint a ball and then bowl with it.
I’d suggest taking a harsh brillo type pad or sandpaper and roughing up the exterior of the ball first. You can use a simple wood putty to fill in the fingerholes. As for painting, I’d even go as far as using a primer on the ball first before using any type of paint. After the primer, I think you’d be able to use most paints of your choice.
